Regulations of the
Women and the World Film Festival

London, October 31 – November 6, 2025
Theme: "Peace Strategies: Women as Agents of Security"

1. Purpose of the Festival

The Women and the World Film Festival is dedicated to highlighting the role of women in military conflicts through such roles as defender, leader, and peacemaker through the lens of cinema. This event aims to raise public awareness and encourage discussions on important issues through feature films, documentaries, journalistic video works, and classic cinema.

The founder and organizer of the Film Festival is Private company limited by guarantee "Talented U Limited"(hereinafter referred to as the Organizer), a legal entity registered and operating under the current legislation of the United Kingdom.

The Women and the World Film Festival is held in the city of London (United Kingdom) based on these Regulations. The festival is scheduled to take place from October 31 – November 6, 2025.

2. Festival Program

The festival is divided into competitive and non-competitive programs.

Competitive Program:

●      Feature Film: at least 60 minutes in duration.

●      Short Film: no longer than 30 minutes.

●      Documentary Film or Narrative Feature.

●      Journalistic, News, TV Video Work, and Social Media Content: Any type of media content that fits within these descriptions can be submitted, regardless of format or length.

Participation in the Competitive Program:

  1. Applications for participation in the competitive programs of the Film Festival are accepted from any legal or natural persons over 18 years of age, without restrictions on citizenship and place of residence, who are the authors of an audiovisual cinematographic work that meets the requirements of these Regulations or, at a minimum, possess the necessary property rights to submit an application and grant the Organizer permission to use such work within the Film Festival.

  2. Priority is given to films created by women directors, women producers, or films featuring women protagonists that explore women's experiences in leadership, peacemaking, and defense during conflicts.

  3. Eligible films: Full-length feature films, documentaries, short films, and journalistic video works completed between 2023 and 2025.

  4. Submission period: Applications for participation in the competitive program are accepted from February 16th 2025.

    • Early bird deadline (16.02 -31.03): £10

    • Standart (01.04 - 31.05) deadline: £10/short film £20/feature film

    • Last minute deadline: (01.06-14.06) £30

  5. Applications must be submitted via FilmFreeway with all required materials by 6 PM (London time) on June14th, 2025.

  6. Up to 20 films may be selected for the competitive program.

  7. Films submitted for the competitive program may also be considered for the non-competitive program, with the applicant’s additional approval.

  8. By submitting films, the applicant guarantees the film's participation if selected and agrees to assist in organizing the screening. Additionally, the applicant confirms they hold the rights to the film and agrees to sign a screening rights agreement with the festival.

  9. The selection of films is carried out by the Selection Committee, appointed by the Organizer. Priority is given to films that will have their UK premiere within the competition.

  10. The final list of films in the competitive program will be published on the festival’s official website.

11. Only one film per category will be named a winner.

  1. The jury consists of cultural experts, film critics, directors, actors, producers, and industry professionals. Jury members must not have any conflicts of interest with the competing films.

  2. Winners will be announced at the Closing Ceremony on November 6, 2025.

  3. Awards:

●      The director of the winning film in each category will receive a festival diploma, statuette, and financial prize (where applicable).

  1. The Jury may also issue up to two (2) Special Jury Diplomas to outstanding films or creative teams in the competitive program.

3. Conditions for Submission and Participation in the Non-Competitive Program

The non-competitive program of the Women and the World Film Festival includes:

●      Classic Cinema reflecting the theme of women in conflicts.

●      Panel Discussions with filmmakers, historians, and activists.

●      Masterclasses by film industry professionals.

Conditions of Participation:

  1. For Classic Cinema and Art Section:

    • Submissions must have historical, cultural, or artistic value and reflect the festival’s theme.

    • Authors or rights holders must submit an application via the festival website, including a description and a digital copy or screening link.

  2. For Panel Discussions:

    • Experts, historians, filmmakers, and activists wishing to participate must submit a proposed discussion topic and a short biography via the festival website or email: info@womenandworldfilmfestival.com.

  3. For Masterclasses:

    • Industry professionals must submit an application with a description of the masterclass, its duration, target audience, and necessary technical requirements via email: info@womenandworldfilmfestival.com.

General Provisions:

●      All applications will be reviewed by the festival’s organizing committee, which reserves the right to select participants without additional explanations.

●      Organizers are not responsible for the storage or return of submitted materials.

●      Participation in the non-competitive program does not automatically grant entry to the competitive program.

Submission Deadlines:

●      Applications for the non-competitive program are accepted until June 14, 2025.

●      Selected participants will be notified by August 31, 2025.

Selection and Notification Procedure:

●      The selection is conducted by the organizing committee.

●      The festival reserves the right to invite participants based on professional achievements or the historical significance of their works.

●      Selected participants will be notified via email and/or phone with further instructions.

Participant Obligations:

●      Panel discussion and masterclass participants must confirm their participation and submit a detailed plan by August 31, 2025.

●      Art section participants and rights holders of classic films must provide all necessary materials for exhibitions or screenings within the set deadlines.

●      Works must be submitted via the festival website or email.

4. Selection Criteria

●      Originality and creative approach to the theme.

●      Artistic quality and production professionalism.

●      Emotional impact and ability to provoke discussion.

5. Awards
Winners in each category of the competitive program will receive awards, which will be announced at the festival's closing ceremony. Details about the awards and sponsors will be shared on the official festival website and the event's social media. The festival reserves the right to alter the number and categories of awards according to the submitted film program.
Categories include:

●      Best Feature Film

●      Best Documentary Film

●      Best Short Film

●      Best News Story/Journalist

●      Best Director (all categories)

●      Best Acting Performance

●      Audience Choice

●      Woman of Global Impact

6. Jury

●      The jury will consist of international experts in the fields of cinema, culture, and history, as well as activists working on the theme of women and war.

●      The jury’s decision is final and not subject to appeal.

7. Screening Requirements

●      All films included in the competitive and non-competitive programs will be shown in London cinemas designated as official festival venues.

●      The screening schedule will be published in advance on the festival website.

8. Publication and Rights
Intellectual Property Rights and Guarantees

  1. By submitting an application under these Regulations to participate in the Film Festival events, the applicant:
    • Has carefully read these Regulations, including the requirements for films/projects that may participate in the Film Festival, and confirms full understanding and acceptance;
    • Confirms that they have sufficient authority to submit the application and that this action does not infringe on the rights and/or legitimate interests of third parties;
    • Agrees to grant the Organizer the right to provide access to the film/project to the relevant jury and selection committees, and, if selected, the right to use the film/project by publicly displaying it within the framework and during the Film Festival.

  2. The applicant who submitted the application and transferred the relevant materials to the Organizer under these Regulations is independently responsible for any claims, lawsuits, or demands from third parties towards such an applicant and/or the Organizer in connection with the use of these materials within the Film Festival and immediately compensates the Organizer for all costs incurred or that may arise in this regard. The Organizer has the right to exclude a film from participation in the Film Festival in case of receiving evidence of copyright infringement by the applicant who submitted the film for participation.

  3. Participants grant the festival the right to publicly screen their works within the event without paying an author's fee.

  4. After the film is approved for the program and announced on the website, the applicant may not withdraw their participation from the festival. If they do so, the applicant agrees to pay a penalty for the time reserved for the screening of their film at the cinema.

  5. The Organizer guarantees that audiovisual works and other materials submitted by applicants under these Regulations will not be used in ways not provided for by these Regulations.

  6. The Organizer guarantees the proper presentation of the film. The Organizer is obliged, during the film selection and festival screenings, to prevent pirated copying, illegal reproduction, or distribution of all officially submitted films, which are the copyright objects of participants (right holders).

9. Financial Conditions

●      A registration fee is required for participation in the competitive program.

●      We do not pay an author’s fee for participation in the festival.

●      Participants bear the costs associated with the shipment and insurance of films.

●      The festival ensures the payment of financial rewards in the provided categories through the involvement of sponsors.

●      The financial support of the Women and the World International Film Festival is carried out from sources not prohibited by UK law.

10. Liability

●      The festival organizers are not responsible for the storage and potential damage to film copies during shipment.

●      Participants must have all necessary rights to use music, images, texts, and other content in their films.

11. Final Provisions

●      Participation in the festival implies full acceptance of these regulations.

●      In case of disputes arising from these Regulations, they are resolved through good-faith and constructive negotiations between the parties to the conflict.

●      For any issues not regulated by these Regulations, the Organizer makes separate decisions, which are additionally communicated.

●      The provisions of these Regulations may be supplemented and/or amended at any time, with subsequent publication on the official website https://www.iffww.com.
